Sue Hoskins
Meet Sue Hoskins
Sue Hoskins became involved with the Women’s Rights Party because of what she describes as growing concerns about the erosion of many of the foundations of a free society. She says society appears to be losing tolerance for free speech, differing opinions, dissent, and freedom of belief.
Sue says that moving away from science and evidence as the basis for laws and policies is having a detrimental effect on women’s sex-based rights, as well as on areas such as education and healthcare.
Sue says she has personally benefited from the significant advances women have made in the struggle for equality. She believes that protecting the mechanisms that allow society to remain flexible, tolerant, and flourishing is important for everyone.
Sue says she believes equality of the sexes, the separation of church and state, free speech, and the scientific method are among the greatest achievements of civilisation.
She also says she strongly supports the right not to hold a belief. In her view, ideologies should be recognised for what they are, and deeply held beliefs should not be imposed on others who do not share them in a free society.
“If we wish to maintain a just society, we must honestly face truth and reality,” Sue says.
We are the only political party in New Zealand that puts women first.
